Spatial data that holds up
under scrutiny
Cortavia prepares labelled datasets, extracts map features from aerial imagery and builds the workflows that let your GIS team run larger analyses without losing defensibility. We work with planning consultancies, utility operators and estate groups across Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah.

About Cortavia
Cortavia was established in Kuala Lumpur to address a specific gap: organisations with remote-sensing data and no clear path to turning it into usable spatial layers. The founders spent several years inside GIS consulting teams before deciding that what clients needed most was not another software licence, but a reliable preparation and extraction service with a paper trail.
Since opening at Menara Prestige in early 2023, the team has processed tile sets covering oil palm estates in Kelantan, road-network extractions for a Selangor utility operator, and capability programmes for planning departments in the Klang Valley. The work is methodical. Every deliverable arrives with the schema document, accuracy metrics and a handover session — because a layer your team cannot verify is of limited value.
Cortavia does not build proprietary platforms. The outputs land in standard GIS formats — GeoPackage, Shapefile, GeoJSON — so they slot into whatever environment the client already uses.
Three areas of practice
Sheet A — Data Labelling
Geospatial Data Labelling
Structured annotation of imagery and vector data to a written standard — building footprints, road classifications, land cover and plantation blocks. The schema travels with every deliverable so batches stay consistent.

Sheet B — Feature Extraction
Map Feature Extraction
Model-based extraction of features from aerial and satellite imagery. Returns clean vector layers with confidence attributes across large study areas — suited to asset registers and land-use updates that cannot be done manually at scale.

Sheet C — Capability Build
Spatial Analytics Capability Build
A five-month programme that sets up tooling, data governance, reproducible pipelines and the working habits a small GIS team needs to operate at greater scale. Includes mentoring for six months after delivery.
Enquire →What sets the work apart
Six things clients notice after working through a first project with Cortavia.
Written labelling standards
Every project begins with a schema document. Decisions about edge cases are recorded, not left in someone's head.
Independent agreement checks
A second reviewer assesses inter-annotator agreement on every tile set. The metric is included in the deliverable, not tucked away.
Fixed delivery schedules
Labelling runs four weeks; extraction runs eight. Timelines are set at kick-off and tracked weekly, not left vague.
Neutral format outputs
Deliverables land in standard GIS formats. No proprietary lock-in, no requirement to buy additional software from Cortavia.
Capability transfer included
Handover sessions and refresh procedures are part of every scope. The goal is a client team that can run subsequent batches independently.
Accuracy against ground reference
Extraction projects include an accuracy assessment against independently collected ground reference points, so you know where the model performs and where it does not.
Built for Malaysian landscapes
Tropical imagery — with the cloud cover, vegetation density and seasonal variation that comes with it — requires labelling standards developed specifically for this region. Cortavia's annotators have worked on oil palm, rubber and mixed-jungle tile sets in Kelantan, Pahang and Sarawak, so the edge-case decisions in the schema reflect real conditions rather than temperate-climate assumptions.

Asset records at scale
Utility operators and planning departments accumulate large areas that need regular spatial updates. Manual digitising does not scale. The map feature extraction service runs a trained model across a defined study area, applies topology cleaning, and delivers the results with confidence attributes and an accuracy report — giving your team something it can accept or flag by feature, rather than treat as a black box.

A team that keeps the gains
The spatial analytics capability programme does not end at delivery. Ten training sessions, code review of team-built workflows and six months of mentoring calls are written into the scope. Organisations in the Klang Valley that have run the programme now handle recurring analyses internally that previously went to external consultants each quarter.

How Cortavia approaches the work
Three operating principles that run through every project, regardless of scope size.
Reference over spectacle
Deliverables are designed to be checked, not admired. Confidence attributes, accuracy metrics and schema documents are included so the client can interrogate the output rather than accept it on trust.
Scope discipline
Every engagement has a written scope, fixed timeline and defined deliverables before work starts. Changes are negotiated in writing. This protects the client's budget as much as it protects the project schedule.
Knowledge stays with the client
Handover is built into every scope. The aim is a client organisation that can rerun analyses and extend labelled datasets without returning to Cortavia for each subsequent batch.
Services
Three fixed-scope services. Pricing shown in Malaysian Ringgit; all work is delivered remotely with a KL-based team.
Geospatial Data Labelling
Preparation of labelled imagery and vector datasets — building footprints, road classes, land cover and plantation blocks — with a written labelling standard so later batches stay consistent. Suited to planning consultancies, utilities and estate groups building their own spatial layers.
- Labelling schema document
- Second-reviewer agreement check
- Standard GIS format delivery
- Handover session included
RM 650
4-week delivery
Map Feature Extraction
Model-based extraction of features from aerial and satellite imagery across a defined area, returned as clean vector layers with confidence attributes. Built for organisations updating asset or land-use records over large areas.
- Imagery sourcing coordination
- Model training on client samples
- Topology cleaning included
- Accuracy assessment report
RM 2,400
8-week delivery
Spatial Analytics Capability Build
A programme that establishes an in-house spatial analysis practice — tooling, data governance, reproducible pipelines and the working habits that keep outputs defensible. For planning, utility and estate organisations with a small GIS team.
- Capability assessment
- 10 training sessions + code review
- Governance handbook
- 6 months post-delivery mentoring
RM 4,700
5-month programmeHow a project runs
Four stages, the same sequence for every engagement. No surprises mid-project.
Scoping call
We review your data, study area and intended use. You receive a written scope, timeline and price before any work begins. Typically takes three to five business days.
Schema and sample review
A draft labelling standard or extraction specification is shared for your sign-off. Edge cases are resolved in writing. A sample output is reviewed before full production starts.
Production with weekly updates
Work proceeds against the agreed schedule. You receive a short written status each week. Any issues affecting the timeline are flagged immediately, not at delivery.
Delivery and handover
Final layers and documentation are delivered in your preferred format. A handover session covers the schema, accuracy metrics and refresh procedure so the next batch can be managed internally.
From clients in the field
The labelling standard they produced upfront saved us from the usual back-and-forth halfway through the project. We received a tile set we could actually hand to our model training team without re-annotation.

GIS Lead, Planning Consultancy · Kuala Lumpur · 14 Jul 2026
We needed updated road-network layers across a 3,000 km² concession in Pahang. Cortavia coordinated the imagery, ran the extraction and delivered topology-clean shapefiles in eight weeks. The accuracy report was detailed enough to satisfy our internal audit process.
Suraya Lim
Asset Data Manager, Utility Operator · Selangor · 22 Jul 2026
The capability programme changed how our team works. Three analyses that used to go to external consultants each quarter now run internally. The governance handbook means new staff can understand the pipelines without a lengthy briefing from a colleague.
